Asian Beef Sliders with Grilled Asparagus

These Asian Beef Sliders with Grilled Asparagus are mini burger sliders with Asian flavors of hoisin sauce and soy sauce then char-grilled with slices of cheese melting on top. They were perfectly paired with fresh asparagus roasted next to them, then seasoned with Asian rice wine and a few drops of sweet, fragrant sesame oil. This recipe made by my our son, Tim  for his dad's 4th of July birthday made 18 pieces of mini burger sliders on tiny pre-toasted bread buns. This is an Asian in America recipe.

Equipment

  • Outdoor grill: Charcoal or Gas

Ingredients

  • 1 pound lean ground beef
  • 2 Tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 Tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon ground black pepper powder
  • 1/2 cup hoisin sauce
  • 10 slices cheddar cheese slices 1/2 a slice for each slider
  • 18 whole mini dinner rolls or small bread buns about 2-inch in diameter
  • 1 bunch fresh asparagus washed and edges trimmed
  • 1 Tablespoon vegetable oil
  • 1 Tablespoon Xiao Xing rice wine
  • 2 Tablespoons extra virgin olive oil enough to coat the asparagus lightly
  • 1-2 Tablespoons fresh lime juice
  • 3/4 Tablespoon coarsely chopped fresh parsley

Instructions

  • Pre-marinate the thawed ground beef with Worcestershire sauce, soy sauce, lime, parsley and seasonings (except the hoisin sauce). Place in a glass or non-reactive bowl and cover with a plastic wrap. Refrigerate a few hours till ready to grill.
  • Brush or spray the outdoor grill's grates with oil to avoid meat sticking.
    Pre heat the grill to a medium-high temperature for 5 to 10 minutes. Shape the ground beef into 2-inch small round, patties.
  • Drizzle hoisin sauce over the top of each slider. Place the beef patty on the grill, with the hoisin sauce side on top. Once the bottom is cooked to your preference, turn over ONCE to cook the other side.
  • Place the cheese slices on the sliders one minute before taking them off.
  • Top on pre-toasted mini burger buns. Serve with grilled asparagus on the side.
    *Note: You can toast the buns on the grill over indirect heat for 1 to 2 minutes or till it becomes slightly brown.
  • Season asparagus with extra virgin olive oil, rice wine, salt and pepper and place on top of the grill. Grill the asparagus for 8 to 10 minutes, and serve warm with the beef sliders.
