Asian Summer Recipes

What to cook this summer? I put together some favorite Asian summer recipes for the Memorial Day weekend and the coming hot months. Memorial Day, a moveable holiday, falls on the last Monday of May and marks the start of summer here in America.

However, most of these favorite Filipino recipes are enjoyed all year round in my sunny home country, the Philippines where tropical temperatures are consistently in the high 90s Fahrenheit up to 100 F degrees every day. We cooked accordingly when I was growing up back in my rural hometown Tarlac, adjusting to the climate. But now that I live in the States, I bring out my summer season recipes this time of the year till it gets chilly again in autumn.

I already anticipate the sultry heat will drive you and me out of the kitchen, and straight to the outdoor grill. So, I’ve lined up some favorite Filipino barbecues, burgers, plus salads, and sides to pair with. And of course, every meal must have drinks and dessert, so here are a few easy beverages and no-bake desserts.

Have a safe and easy holiday weekend, folks. And here’s to a memorable summer for all of us.
